Milam County Commissioner's Court adopted a proposed Tax Phase-In plan that will provide tax benefits to prospective businesses, looking to establish themselves here in the county. The Phase-In program is a points based system that is calculated based on 3 categories: amount of investment capital, jobs that will be created, and economic impact to the county, itself. The points are calculated and by doing so, the percentage of ad valorem tax abatement is determined. Judge Dave Barkemeyer has also been assigned to go to the city & town councils around the county to promote a unified tax "phase-in" or "abatement" system. The approved Tax "Phase-In" program, as well as the guidelines for the program are explained in the link below.

MILAM COUNTY PRECINCT RE-DISTRICTING
The two public hearings were conducted on May 2 & 3 in Rockdale and Cameron respectively with meaningful insight from the community. As a result, Commisioner's Court has finalized the redistricting plan for the county including the modifications within Cameron and Rockdale city limits.
Some additional changes were made as a result of citizen suggestions, and the final revisions are shown in the maps below. The final population distribution are shown in the Population Summary below, and the population stands at 2.96% deviation, well within the 10% allowed by law. Plans are to approve this plan, Plan F, at the Commissioner's Court Meeting, on May 9th. All of Precinct #1 voters' precinct 103 was moved into Precinct #2 and will be combined with Voter Precinct 207. The new voting site will be located at the Milam County Cowboy Church on Highway 77, between Rockdale and Minerva.
